Aldon Smith Stands to Loose Everything

With the recent allegations against San Francisco 49ers Aldon Smith he stands to loose his future as 49ers linebacker and his fifth-year option out the window!

Earlier this week defensive end Aldon Smith dark cloud over his head has got darker after Sunday afternoons detainment by security at Los Angeles International Airport as he was indicated that he was in possession of a bomb.

Coincidentally, nobody at the airport publicly identified the man as Smith, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter forwarded a statement from 49ers general manager Trent Baalke

“We are disappointed to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith. As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment.”

It’s been 5 days since the incident and now Smith is facing suspension for a false bomb threat at LAX International Airport. Smith was set to earn a base salary of$2,336,454 in 2014, but with this looming cloud of shame laying over his head and the probability that this will indeed by his final year of his deal with the 49ers unless the team decides to pick up its fifth-year team option on his rookie contract by the league’s May 3 deadline.

The clock is ticking for Aldon, but CelebNMusic247.com has also learned that team is “not expected” to pick up the option, making him a free agent at the end of the season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

If San Francisco picked up the option, Smith’s salary would triple next season to a whopping $9.75 million figure.

That alone would be the main reason fror Aldon’s departure from the team. Plus the NFL draft is upon us, so the 49ers are most likey looking for a replacement at this time, but it would most likely come down to budget on the backside of football.

Moreover, The 49ers are not expected to release Smith, but there is still a strong chance that he will not take the field for what would amount to a crucial prove-it year.

Last year, Aldon Smith landed himself a DUI arrest in the off-season, so the possibilities to be handed a lengthy suspension from Roger Goodell for violating the league’s personal conduct policy is great. Not to mention he could still be facing a year in jail for his false bomb threat.
