(CelebNMusic247-News) CoCo Admits To Disrespecting Ice-T:
When news of the TV series Ice Loves Coco was first announced, many critics were sceptical about its staying power.
Here’s the drop via our friends at 4UMF:
Yes, it featured glamour model Coco Austin whose eye-popping 39DD-23-40 vital statistics were worth an initial viewing just on their own, but for many the appeal of yet another celebrity couple – Coco and her husband, controversial rapper Ice-T – publicising their relationship for the benefit of TV audiences seemed dubious at best.
As Ice-T said of the show at the time: ‘People had certain preconceptions of us. They thought I’d be burying bodies in the back garden and Coco would be off stripping at birthday parties.’
Yet despite the show’s distinct lack of corpses and exotic dancing, Ice Loves Coco has been a big hit. Audiences have been charmed by the couple’s surprisingly sweet relationship and heartened that the man who once famously penned the track Cop Killer should also be such an unbridled softie when it came to his wife (‘she’s the nicest person I know,’ he once cooed).
As Coco now says, in an exclusive interview with MailOnline: ‘I think when the show first came out people would see this rapper and a model together and think: “What could they possibly be doing right?”. But as the show as gone on, they’ve seen how we’re really in love and really into each other.’
Which makes what happened at the end of last year so surprising. While in Las Vegas, where Coco is performing in the burlesque show Peepshow – and where Ice-T was noticeably absent – she was photographed with her arm around the Californian rapper AP.9.
He is shown kissing her cheek and nuzzling his face into her neck and upset by the photos, Ice-T subsequently tweeted: She’s made me look. And feel like s**t’, to which Coco responded that although nothing transpired between herself and AP.9, ‘Ice is right, the pics I took with this man were in poor taste & I disrespected my husband however the pics were the only thing that happened.’
Rapper AP.9 then insisted he had naked pictures of Coco – the implication being that far more happened between them than simply posed photos – and as if that weren’t enough for the beleaguered Coco, she was then pictured earlier this month having her famed derriere being groped by another chap, this time a man by the name of Moose Diesel. For a couple who are considered to have one of the most affectionate marriages in the business, Ice-T and Coco certainly haven’t had the easiest time of late.
Mention of the photos though causes Coco to sigh. ‘Do I want to set the record straight? No,’ she replies, ‘because that’s old news. And those pictures [with Moose Diesel] are old too. People are going to think what they think and there’s nothing I can do about it. But people were also saying my booty was fake too no matter what I said or did, so there’s nothing I can do about that either.
‘Ice and I just live our own lives,’ she adds. ‘I have to answer to him and he has to answer to me and that’s it. We don’t care about the outside world and even though it can be harsh out there, we just have to deal with it.’
After the scandal erupted, rumours abounded that the couple were about to split, but, says Coco, ‘there’s no truth to that rumour at all. I look at couples in the street who are in their sixties and have been together for 40 years and they’re my idols. That’s Ice and me for sure. We already feel like that because we’ve been together so long.’
Famous derrière: The model recently took over from Holly Madison for the Peepshow burlesque spectacular in Las Vegas
The couple met in 2001 when Coco was just 22 (to Ice-T’s 43), married two months later and prior to the AP.9 hiccup, not a hint of scandal had clouded their union of almost 12 years – a rarity itself in showbiz circles. Asked whether the rumpus surrounding those pictures had put a strain on their marriage, Coco replies: ‘No, because we have a great relationship and we know each other really well.’
She went on: ‘We’re like a brother and sister who’ve known each other the whole time. We’re best friends and we’re tight-knit.’ Has the whole episode been hurtful? ‘It has, yeah,’ she admits, ‘and I don’t like to have to deal with it. But you know, people don’t like me because people don’t really like models.’
