Tony Romo has been going day-to-day with a back injury while playing for the Dallas Cowboys but his herniated disc/back injury can no longer be over-looked.

Romo will miss the rest of the season with a herniated disc and will require surgery, according to an ESPN report.  Coach Jason Garrett said Monday afternoon in regards to Romo being out for the season.

When asked if he could confirm or deny that Romo will miss the rest of the season, Garrett said:

“We haven’t made that determination at all at this point.”

“We probably will sign another quarterback.”

“We don’t have another quarterback on our practice roster.”

Kyle Orton is the Cowboys’ backup quarterback and the only other quarterback on the team’s roster.

As for Tony Romo, here’s the drop via Dallas News:

Romo, according to owner Jerry Jones, said he began feeling soreness during practice last week after his back tightened.

On Sunday,  during Dallas’ 24-23 victory over Washington, Romo began experiencing discomfort after being hit early in the game. On the first drive of the fourth quarter, after spinning away from an oncoming rusher during an eight-yard completion to Miles Austin, Romo was seen limping.

“You just play through it,” he said. “It’s football.”

Jones said Romo’s injury was a muscular issue and had nothing do with the cyst that was removed from his back last April. Garrett reiterated that same belief Monday afternoon.
