James Franco Apologizes Trying to Date Teen Girl
Actor James Franco is embarrassed about trying to pick up a teenage girl via Instagram earlier this week.
Franco is finally admitting that he tried to pick up and underaged teen on Instagram during an appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael on Friday, April 4.
Franco, 35, said to Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan:
“I was feeling awkward — I didn’t want to come on the show and just feel awkward.”
“I’m embarrassed, and I guess I’m just a model of how social media is tricky. It’s the way that people meet each other today, but what I’ve learned — I guess because I’m new to it — is you don’t know who’s on the other end.”
He continued:
“You get a feel for them, you don’t know who you’re talking to.”
“I used bad judgment and I learned my lesson.”
CelebNMusic247.com heard about the news yesterday but could believe James Franco would stoop that low going after a 17 year old girl. We were wrong, because he did just that on April 3, after photos surfaced of an exchange between Franco and 17-year-old Scottish fan Lucy Corde.
We have two words for Franco – “SET UP!”
James poked fun at the situation and after the images from the conversation leaked, the actor Instagramed a photo of himself with “WHY ARE YOU SO THIRSTY FOR UNDERAGE ONES,” written on it and tweeted, “I’M NOT! I HOPE PARENTS KEEP THEIR TEENS AWAY FROM ME. Thank you.”
While the Instagram photo has since been deleted, the tweet still remains live on Franco’s account.
Franco asked the underaged girl:
“What’s the hotel? Should I rent a room?”
When Corde replied that his comment could have been part of an April Fool’s joke, Franco then sent a selfie confirming that it was really him.
Franco adds:
“Unfortunately in my position, not only do I have to go through the embarrassing rituals of meeting someone, but if I do that, then it gets published for the world so it’s doubly embarrassing.”
Franco clearly looked uncomfortable discussing the situation, but in true Ripa form, she jumped in to lighten the mood.
She quipped:
“I promise I will not reveal our text messages.”
