Why is Resident Evil 6 the Last in Series?

The final installment in the film series will be directed once again by the original director of the franchise, Paul WS Anderson.

CelebNMusic247.com has learned via Collider that director Anderson, has revealed that the title of Resident Evil: Rising will most likely be changed to Resident Evil: The Final Chapter since it will conclude Alice (Mila Jovovich) against the red queen and her quest to destroy the human race.

UPDATE: Resident Evil: Rising has had a name change to Resident Evil: The Final Chapter – It has been pushed back to a 2016 release.

Although, Anderson is currently in the midst of writing the first draft for Resident Evil 6, he revealed:

“It may end up being the final title, but that’s what’s written on the front page of my script.”

“I’m right in the middle of [the first draft].”

When asked if the title indicated an end to the series he said:

“That’s what’s on the title page. It’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, so absolutely.”

The first Milla Jovovich-starring film was released in 2002, with the most recent outing Retribution arriving in 2012. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter has yet to set a filming or release schedule. So far the synopsis is brief:

Alice, Jill, Claire, Chris, Leon, Ada, and Wesker rush to The Hive, where The Red Queen plots total destruction over the human race.

The upcoming film will star Wentworth Miller, Milla Jovovich, Sienna Guillory, Shawn Roberts, Bingbing Li and Johann Urb.

It is tentatively set for a 2015 release.
