(CelebNMusic247-News) S.H.I.E.L.D. Cast Iain De Caestecker & Elizabeth Henstridge
Here’s the Drop:
Both British actors, Henstridge will play Agent Gemma Simmons and De Caestecker is on board as Agent Leo Fitz. Here’s how the characters were described in the casting notes revealed early last month:
“These two came through training together and still choose to spend most of their time in each other’s company. Their sibling-like relationship is reinforced by their shared nerd tendencies – she deals with biology and chemistry, he’s a whiz at the technical side of weaponry.”
Henstridge has appeared on British soap opera Hollyoaks and recent CW pilot Shelter. De Caestecker was in the lead role for two BBC series in 2011, The Fades and Young James Herriot.

Henstridge and De Caestecker join Ming-Na, announced last month as portraying Agent Melinda May, and Clark Gregg, reprising his role from the Marvel Studios films as Agent Phil Coulson. (Samuel L. Jackson thus far has not been announced as involved in the pilot, and is pictured above for illustrative purposes.)
Joss Whedon is expected to direct the S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot, and is writing the script along with his brother Jed and Maurissa Tancharoen, who he’s collaborated with on Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and Dollhouse. S.H.I.E.L.D. — which, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, stands for “Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division,” rather than “Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistic Directorate” as stated in the Reporter’s article — has played a role in virtually all of the Marvel Studios films since 2008′s Iron Man, particularly this past summer’s mega-hit The Avengers, written and directed by Whedon.
