Along with Jim … Ray and The Doors churned out some of the most iconic rock songs in history — including, “L.A. Woman,” “Break On Through to the Other Side,” “The End,” “Hello, I Love You,” and “Light My Fire.”

Manzarek went on to produce the Los Angeles punk band X, who performed on day 2 at the innaugural year of Bottle Rock Napa. Bassist John Doe said the band learned a lot from him.

Doe told CNN in a 2004 interview:

“To have someone like Ray — like rock ‘n’ roll royalty — embrace what we do, it was great for our confidence,”

“In the studio, he knew what to try to do. He went for performance. He was smart enough to realize that the band had the arrangements all worked out.”

While, Doors guitarist Robby Krieger, said:

“I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and bandmate Ray Manzarek today.”

“I’m just glad to have been able to have played Doors songs with him for the last decade. Ray was a huge part of my life and I will always miss him.”

The Doors is one of rocks most influential bands and will always hold legendary status for the musical efforts and incrediable music. We will miss Ray his keyboard work in The Doors music was impeccable.

If you have not heard The Doors we recommend researching and purchasing some the catalogue. There is nothing like the music of The Doors.

R.I.P. sir.
